Bangladesh received $735m in remittances in first week of May

Bangladesh received $735 million in remittances in the first seven days of May, showing a 22.3 per cent year-on-year growth compared to the same period last year, reports UNB.
According to data released by Bangladesh Bank on Monday, expatriates sent $735 million from May 1 to 7. The amount in the corresponding period of 2024 was $601 million.
From July 2024 to May 7, Bangladesh received a record $25.27 billion in remittances, up from $19.72 billion during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
In the first 10 months (July-April) of the ongoing fiscal year 2024–25, expatriates remitted $24.54 billion, surpassing the total remittance received in the entire FY 2023–24.
The monthly break-up of remittance inflow in FY 2024–25 is as follows:
April: $2.75 billion
March: $3.29 billion
February: $2.53 billion
January: $2.19 billion
December: $2.64 billion
November: $2.2 billion
October: $2.39 billion
September: $2.4 billion
August: $2.22 billion
July: $1.91 billion
