July uprising: Injured protesters block Shahbagh, demand full AL ban

Victims of July uprising staged a sit-in protest at the Shahbagh intersection on Sunday morning, demanding justice and a complete ban on the ruling Awami League (AL), reports UNB.
Organised by members of the National Citizen Party (NCP), the protest disrupted traffic in one of Dhaka's busiest areas, causing significant inconvenience to commuters, particularly those heading to nearby hospitals.
The demonstration followed the government's announcement on Saturday to suspend all activities of the Awami League—both online and offline—under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Officials said the ban would remain in effect until the International Crimes Tribunal concludes its trial against the party and its leaders, the report added.
A gazette notification formalising the suspension is expected on the next working day, according to sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
NCP leaders accused the AL of involvement in the violent crackdown during the July uprising and said they would continue protests until the party is permanently outlawed.
Protesters at the scene carried banners calling for justice and chanted slogans against political violence and impunity.
Police were present at the site but did not intervene in the peaceful demonstration as of Sunday afternoon.
