Nusraat Faria granted bail in attempted murder case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to popular actress Nusraat Faria in an attempted murder case, reports UNB.
Judge Mustafizur Rahman of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 passed the order on a bond of Tk 5,000 after hearing a bail petition, said defence lawyer Barrister Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain.
Earlier, on Monday, the court had sent her to jail in connection with the case.
Nusraat Faria was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday while attempting to leave Dhaka for Thailand.
She was later handed over to Bhatara Police Station, which subsequently transferred her to the Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning.
According to the case statement, Nusraat Faria—along with Apu Biswas, Nipun Akter, Ashna Habib Bhabna, Zayed Khan, and 12 others—was accused in a case related to last year's anti-discrimination movement in the Bhatara area.
Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 283 others were also named in the same case.
The case was filed on April 29 at Bhatara Police Station, a day after a court ordered police to register it.
Nusraat was accused of allegedly financing the Awami League, which the complainant claims opposed the anti-discrimination movement.
Faria began her career as a radio jockey before moving into television hosting in 2013. She also acted in a few TV dramas.
She made her silver screen debut in 2015 with Aashiqui, a Bangladesh-India joint production that gained widespread attention.
Since then, she has appeared in nearly 20 films across Dallywood and Tollywood.
