Prof Yunus to visit Chattogram on Wednesday

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to visit his hometown Chattogram on Wednesday for the first time since assuming office as head of the interim government, reports BSS.
During his daylong visit, Yunus is scheduled to attend several official programmes, according to Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
One of the key highlights of his visit will be attending the fifth convocation of Chittagong University (CU) as the chief guest.
He is also expected to visit his ancestral home in Bathua village under Shikarpur Union in Hathazari upazila.
Upon arrival, the chief adviser will first visit Chittagong Port, where he will attend a meeting at the NCT-5 premises. There, he will exchange views with senior port and shipping officials, representatives of port users' organisations, and leaders of trade organisations.
Later in the day, he will proceed to the Chattogram Circuit House to unveil the foundation stone of the long-anticipated Kalurghat Bridge over the Karnaphuli River.
The new bridge is expected to significantly benefit residents on the river's southern bank, particularly in Boalkhali and Patiya upazilas.
Officials are also expected to brief Prof Yunus on pressing urban issues, including chronic waterlogging in the city and severe traffic congestion along Hathazari Road from the Oxygen Intersection.
Additionally, the chief adviser will hand over land documents for the Chattogram National Heart Foundation to the relevant authorities.
