Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have seized smuggled Indian goods worth Tk 32 lakh in a drive at the Benapole check-post border, reports UNB.
However, no smugglers were detained during the operation.
A BGB patrol team conducted the drive on Sunday evening and seized goods including sarees, blankets, various types of chocolates, food items, and cosmetics.
Lt Col Saifullah Siddique, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-49 in Jashore, said they launched the drive after receiving a tip-off that a syndicate was planning to smuggle a large quantity of drugs and contraband goods from India through the Benapole check-post.
The seized goods have been handed over to Benapole Customs House.
A case has also been filed in connection with the incident.
